ABOUT

Mothering Journal

I was sitting one morning
watching my daughter play
and I wanted to read something about being a mom on my phone. I realized that I could be reading the most incredible article on how to be a mom, but all my child would see was me being disconnected and probably thinking I was scrolling through social media. I realized that I wanted to do something to create more connection with my children and more connection with other moms.

I have this desire to give people something back in their hands, something that's tangible, something that brings families together and mothers together with other mothers.

CONCEPT

I came up with the idea of launching a magazine, and I know it's not a new idea. We've been reading magazines and books for a very long time, but I feel like in our society, we're more disconnected, and we have more on the cloud and more things we actually can't tangibly touch or feel, and my heart is to get things back in people's hands again.

Mothering Journal is a magazine from Moms, for Moms.

What you can expect from the magazine is a voice for every different stage of mothering. So if you are a brand new mom, there will be a column just for you. If you're an empty nester mom, there's a column for you. We have a mom who's writing about how to engage your children around a dinner table. A mother is writing about when motherhood doesn't actually come easily.

My heart is to have many different voices for many different women in many different stages of their lives. that any mom can pick it up at any phase of life and get something out of it.

Interactive

We also included activities and coloring sheets and things to actually do with your child so that it's not just a time of mom gets her magazine and she's checking out, but instead, we're pulling our children close and inviting them to do things with us as well.

I know that mothering can feel really isolating. It feels like you have to lay down everything about your life before becoming a mom. You end up feeling, at times, a struggle of “who am I in this place of mothering?”. oftentimes we don't get to leave the house very often or things like that, especially when we have little children at home. My heart is to bring things to life in moms and to call out the dreams that are still inside, as well as to encourage what and where you are in your journey.

I hope that Mothering Journal will not only bring us mothers closer together and give us wisdom but also bring deeper connections with our kids and get us grounded back into things we can touch and feel again.

Mothering Journal is a magazine for moms, from moms, and we're so excited to share it with you!
